Wave particle duality is FALSE in my world. So does that make me schizophrenic? Or do I live in a different world than you do? It could be that I’m schizophrenic, since I am a psychiatrist who has talked with more schizophrenics than physicists. It could be that I live in a different universe and am communicating with you through a wormhole.
What is wave particle duality? It means that you have something that, when you look at it one way is a wave, and when you look another way, it is a particle. But consider what would happen if the wave and particle were traveling in opposite directions. Then if you looked at it one way, it would be a wave, and when you looked another way, it would be a particle, but they couldn’t be two aspects of the same thing because they travel in opposite directions. NONE of the founders of quantum mechanics (Einstein, Bohr, Schrödinger, de Broglie, Heisenberg, Dirac, Feynman) ever asked, nor did they seek experimental evidence about the direction of the waves versus the particles. The question never crossed their radar screen. There is at least one experiment in which waves and particles travel in opposite directions.
Pretty much everyone but me says that the double slit experiment demonstrates wave particle duality. They use the word “complementarity.” But I have published a scientific article in a physics journal which shows that there is no need for the idea of complementarity. At least not in my world. I’m not saying anything about you and your world. After all, you are probably not a psychiatrist. This website will give you a glimpse into my world.
